Prescott Valley History

Incorporated in 1978, Prescott Valley has emerged from being a sleepy Northern Arizona community, and is now a dominant player in local commerce and property investment. Known as the "Lonesome Valley", the area east of Prescott is a vast, attractive valley. The area was first settled by miners seeking gold in the nearby Lynx Creek. Ranchers came to appreciate the wide open spaces in the Lonesome Valley.

Later, land speculators got involved in selling and reselling the same plots of land to multiple buyers back east and in the midwest, prompting reform in Arizona real estate regulations.

Regardless of early struggles and being much newer than neighboring Prescott, Prescott Valley has played its upstart role masterfully, growing significantly and having a tremendous impact on the regional economy.

Prescott Valley Progress and Entertainment

Creating a town center is a notable part of the Prescott Valley master plan. The progress was started in earnest by placing the architecturally innovative Town Hall in the center of nearby state lands in 1999. Other Town Center innovations include retail shops, theaters, and restaurants. Also included in the Town Center are offices and a medical center. The latest addition to Prescott Valley's Town Center is the Tim's Toyota Center, a regional multipurpose facility, home of the Arizona Sundogs Hockey Club.

Other entertainment in Prescott Valley includes the Mountain Valley Skatepark (skateboarding), and Mountain Valley Splash, Prescott Valley's outdoor aquatic center. Don't miss bowling at Antelope Lanes, and games at the Freedom Station Family Fun Center.
